Looking to register for CRA My Account?
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) provides an online portal called My Account, which allows individuals to view and manage certain personal tax information. Below is a general overview of the registration process based on publicly available CRA guidance.
Step 1: Individuals can begin the registration process by visiting the CRA website:: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/e-services/e-services-individuals/account-individuals.html
Step 2: CRA offers multiple sign‑in options, including:
A CRA user ID and password
A Sign‑In Partner (online banking credentials)
Step 3: You may need to validate your identity by entering your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Step 4.1: In this step, you may need to enter your postal code as per your tax return and enter the Date of Birth.
Step 4.2: For the tax information part (see the image in Step 4.1), requested tax amounts can generally be found on a T1 return or tax summary from the most recent filing year.
Example only: If you filed taxes with Canada Tax Savers, then you may look for the pdf document named summary sent via email (See the example below).
Step 4.3: In the pdf document you may check the amount for the Line number asked. In the example below, if you are asked for Line Number 10100, then the amount is $ 18031 (don’t include decimals or commas). Enter this amount in the Tax information part of Step 4.1.
Step 5: Click Next.
Step 6: In this step, you may need to verify if your postal code is correct and you can receive mail at that address. If not, then you may need to call CRA at 1-800-959-8281 to change your address before proceeding.
Step 7: Once step 6 is completed you may be able to get limited access to your account. After completing the initial registration steps, CRA may mail a security code to the address on file. Once received, users can log back into CRA My Account and enter the code to obtain full access.
Processing times and access levels are determined by CRA and may vary.
Congratulations!
